    East Pavilion Surgery Center is a new Ambulatory Surgery Center located in the East Pavilion of Providence St. Vincent’s Medical Center at 9135 SW Barnes Rd., Suite 161.  The facility will open with five operating rooms. East Pavilion Surgery Center will be proud to offer a wide range of outpatient services to patients, including but not limited to Urology, Otorhinolaryngology, Neurology, Gynecology and Plastic Surgery 

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    The PACU/PreOp Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes through implementation of critical pathways and in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the facility. Our healthcare teammates are dedicated to exceeding the expectations of our patients while meeting their individualized health and perioperative needs in collaboration with our physicians and facility administrative procedures.  We promote a team environment through a shared governance model with a multi-disciplinary approach. Our Nurses serve as a resource to the healthcare team for complex decision making and they are committed to establishing individualized plans of care for the patient undergoing perioperative care. 


     Key Responsibilities:

    • Uses the nursing process including assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, in order to provide safe effective outcomes
    • Administers and charts medications as ordered by the physician, reinforces and clarifies physician instructions and explanation of procedures to patient and companion.
    • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for a Registered Nurse position in Perioperative Services. This would include patient care duties, including the ability to provide for patient care in emergency situations and based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective.
    • Maintains and evaluates their own clinical expertise and clinical practice, demonstrates the importance of continuing education to the performance of facility responsibilities and professional growth.
    • Conducts quality review audits as assigned by the manager or designee, conscientiously and continuously applies the principles and tolls learned during CQI training on a daily basis.
    • Maintains flexibility with scheduling and job assignments in order to cover patient needs. Ability to work in multiple perioperative areas.
    • Fosters a positive and professional ambulatory surgery center environment by interacting with all persons in a considerate, helpful and courteous manner and by participating as a team member. Must have an award-winning smile and personality with an unrequited commitment to clinical excellence and outcomes.
    • Participates in committees, work groups and meetings as deemed necessary. Consistently demonstrates results and the achievement of target dates. Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team and takes part in shared leadership.
    • Successfully completes competencies required of the position, obtains laboratory, EKG, radiology studies requested by physician according to policy.


    • Associates degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited university, college or school.
    • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Oregon
    • Exceptional Clinical Skills
    • BLS Certification
    • ACLS/PALS Certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment)
    • Basic computer literacy 
    • Previous work experience in an ambulatory care surgical setting or acute care hospital PACU or PreOP OR
