    First Coast Surgery Center is a brand new 3 OR orthopedic and spine surgery center located in Jacksonville, FL.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    The Physician Office Liaison/Scheduler assists in managing our primary product (operating room time) and is expected to proactively fill the schedule.  The Physician Office Liaison is the key point of contact with our physician offices and their relationships help ensure the success of our center.  The Physician Office Liaison demonstrates excellent customer service skills to supersede expectations and demonstrate exceptional professional behavior as a representative of SCA.  The Physician Office Liaison must be self-directed, able to work independently with team-oriented behavior.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Obtain and accurately enter accurate patient demographic, insurance authorization and workup from physician offices at time of scheduling.
    • Coordinates schedule with physician time, staffing, procedure complexity, patient age/needs and equipment availability in mind.
    • Maximize efficiency within the surgery schedule by organizing cases and monitoring block utilization.
    • Communicate and partner with the back-up Schedulers in a manner that is consistent for the centers to maintain its high level of service.
    • Coordinates with anesthesia group to confirm scheduling for coverage.
    • Works closely with Clinical Director to avoid equipment or supply conflicts.
    • Ensures all necessary paperwork for any patient” add- on” is received by the appropriate staff.
    • Communicates changes to schedule to appropriate staff.
    • Accurately uses procedure codes to ensure proper billing.
    • Perform cost analysis to ensure reimbursement and submits cost reimbursement analysis reports.
    • Participate in the Scheduler conference calls.
    • Validates physician credentials at time of case booking to ensure license, insurance DEA and privileges are current.
    • Market the center through daily outgoing calls and some face-to- face visits to physician offices to develop solid and long-lasting relationships.
    • Help coordinate and attend scheduler luncheons, open houses, and other events to strengthen the facility’s brand and pull through on existing relationships.
    • Develop an ongoing communication plan with physician office schedulers to assess satisfaction and identify opportunities for improvement.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school preferred
    • 3-5 years’ scheduling experience in a medical office, hospital, outpatient surgery center
    • Proficient Computer experience, Excel, Word, Medical Billing Software and Applications
    • Working knowledge of Medical Terminology.
