    Memorial Houston Surgery Center is a busy, freestanding multi-specialty outpatient surgery center located in Houston, Texas. MHSC has 5 ORs and performs approximately

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    We are searching for a Full Time Certified Scrub Tech for our high-volume ASC.   This teammate functions as a scrub assistant to the physician performing operative procedures.  Works under the direction of a Registered Nurse.  The ST prepares for scheduled procedures and arranges sterile set up of instrument tables according to established protocols.   Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures.  Works as a team player to ensure optimal care to patients.  Embraces our SCA values of Clinical Quality, Integrity, Service Excellence, Accountability, Teamwork and Continuous Improvement.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensures sterility of all supplies & instruments during set up of surgical procedures
    • Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment
    • Assists circulating nurse in gathering supplies/equipment in preparation for cases
    • Responsible for sponge, needle and instrument counts
    • Assists in keeping preference cards accurate/updated
    • Retains all specimens to be sent to pathology
    • Transports surgical equipment to appropriate cleaning areas
    • Assists in sterile supply with cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets
    • Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients/teammates/surgeons; communicates effectively and courteously
    • Uses standard universal precautions at all times



    • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CST/CSFA)
    • High School Diploma/GED
    • Minimum 2 years-experience in multi-specialty cases
