    The Surgical Center of Connecticut is a freestanding multi-specialty ambulatory surgery facility open Monday through Friday- NO WEEKENDS, HOLIDAYS, or ON-CALL. The center has grown exponentially in the last year adding an orthopedics specialty service line and is looking to complement the existing team with an experienced Preop-PACU RN.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    The Preop-PACU Registered Nurse position will provide support to the facility in collaboration with other members of the multi-disciplinary care team. The Preop-PACU RN competently performs job responsibilities in accordance with all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

     

    • Ensure patient needs are met in accordance with instructions of physician and facility’s policies & procedures.
    • Demonstrates respect for co-workers & develops positive working relationships with other departments.
    • Communicates with courtesy when interacting with patients, physicians, vendors and the public – in person, on the telephone, or by email.
    • Develops, individualizes and prioritizes patient’s care in collaboration with patient, family and health team members that is sensitive to the patient’s cultural and spiritual needs to attain expected outcomes.
    • Assesses, plans and evaluates the nursing care needs of patients in the immediate pre-and/or post-operative period.
    • Provides comfort and support for pre/post-operative patients.
    • Evaluates responses to treatments and interventions and manages patient’s pain.
    • Carries out physician orders.
    • Administers prescribed medications and monitors vital signs.
    • Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation.
    • Accurate documentation in the medical record.

    Qualifications

    • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
    • Registered Nurse, licensed in the state of CT
    • 2-3 years’ Pre or Post-Operative experience required at minimum
    • Multi-specialty experience preferred with urology and orthopedics being preference
    • Flexible scheduling required Monday through Friday (TEN HOUR DAYS ROTATING DAYS OFF)
    • Must be personable, friendly, and exhibit flexibility and positive interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent communication and organization skills MANDATORY. Knowledge of typical Pre/post ambulatory care equipment required.
    • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS)/Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification.
    • Successful completion of ACLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.
