    The Surgical Center of Connecticut is a freestanding multi-specialty ambulatory surgery facility open Monday through Friday- NO WEEKENDS, HOLIDAYS, or ON-CALL. The center has grown exponentially in the last year adding orthopedics specialty service line and is looking to complement the team with an experienced Operating Room Nurse.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    The OR Registered Nurse position will provide support to the facility by performing circulating RN duties in the Operating Room at this fast-paced, multispecialty Ambulatory Surgery Center.

     

    • Provides direct clinical patient care to surgical patients in the operating room.
    • Prepares the operating room for procedures each day (assuring all supplies, implants, and equipment is present and ready).
    • Assisting with efficient Operating Room turn over between cases to prepare for the next case.
    • Accurate documentation in the medical record.
    • Accurate documentation of the inventory and maintenance of preference cards.
    • Communicates effectively with department teammates, physicians and patients to assure continuity of patient care.
    • Identifies potentially unsafe situations and notifies supervisor.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • Associates or bachelor’s degree in nursing required
    • Registered Nurse, licensed in the state of CT
    • 2-3 years’ operating room experience required at minimum
    • Circulating multi-specialty experience required with urology and orthopedics being preferred
    • Flexible scheduling required Monday through Friday (TEN HOUR DAYS ROTATING DAYS OFF)
    • Must be personable, friendly, and exhibit flexibility and positive interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent communication and organization skills MANDATORY.
    • Knowledge of typical Operating Room equipment required.
    • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS)/Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification.
    • Successful completion of ACLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.
