    Facility Description:

    The Texas Health Orthopedic Surgery Center Heritage is a single-specialty ambulatory surgery center located near Keller/Fort Worth Texas, which is a short commute from Dallas. Our center started providing patient care in September 2018. With four operating rooms we provide Orthopedics, Spine, and Pain surgical services.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    The Pre-assessment (PAT) RN is responsible for providing safe and quality care for patients prior to having surgery at our facility.  The PAT nurse works with the patient to gather health information preoperatively using the One Medical Passport Online system and drawing any ordered preoperative labwork and/or EKG studies.  The PAT nurse also conducts Joint Camp, which is a 1:1 preop meeting for all our Total Joint patients.   The PAT nurse, in collaboration with other members of the multi-disciplinary care team, competently performs job responsibilities in accordance with all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.  The Preassessment Registered Nurse actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.     

    Key Responsibilities:

     

    • Ensure patient needs are met in accordance with instructions of physician and facility’s policies & procedures.
    • Demonstrates respect for co-workers & develops positive working relationships with other departments.
    • Communicates with courtesy when interacting with patients, physicians, hospital staff, vendors and the public – in person, on the telephone, or by email.
    • Develops, individualizes and prioritizes patient’s plan of care daily in collaboration with patient, family and health team members that is sensitive to the patient’s cultural and spiritual needs to attain expected outcomes.
    • Coordinates and performs activities routinely as appropriate with the Preop/PACU Clinical Manager, Medical Director, Anesthesia Director and the Quality Committee(s). 
    • Prepares for cases each day assuring all paperwork, lab work, supplies, equipment, and/or request are met. 
    • Serves as a primary coordinator of all specialties for well-coordinated patient care prior to procedure.
    • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
    • Obtain and accurately enter patient health history during the pre-assessment process.
    • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills to supersede expectations and demonstrate exceptional professional behavior as a representative of SCA.

    Qualifications

    • TX RN license a must
    • ACLS, BLS certification required
    • Must be self-directed and able to work independently
    • 1-2 years of working as a registered nurse in an ASC or hospital required
    • 1-2 years Pre-assessment duties in an ASC or hospital experience strongly preferred
    • Proficient in Excel, Word, Medical Billing Software and Applications
    • Orthopedic experience preferred
