    Facility Description:

    Wake Forest Baptist Health Outpatient Surgery — Clemmons is a brand new, 12,500-square-foot outpatient surgery center that opened in 2018.  The center is a partnership between Surgical Care Affiliates LLC and Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. SCA, part of Optum, specializes in developing surgical facilities across the country.  The center has three state-of-the-art operating rooms where gynecology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, plastics and general surgery are performed.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    The Pre-Op PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge in the perioperative setting.  The nurse is responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes through the implementation of critical pathways and in accordance with the mission of the surgery center. This position has no call, no weekends, and no holidays.

    • Correlate clinical data with patient’s medical and nursing care 
    • Set priorities
    • Provide direction to others that is clear, concise and promotes efficient in the Operating Room
    • Utilize nursing knowledge, processes, and discriminative judgment while giving direct or indirect care
    • Recognize legal and policy limits of individual practice
    • Recognize the importance of teamwork
    • Utilize time effectively
    • Assess physical and emotional needs of patients and implements appropriate nursing interventions 
    • Cognizant of health care cost 


    Licenses or Certificates:        

    • Current licensure to practice in North Carolina
    • Current BLS certification
    • Current ACLS certification
    • Current PALS certification


    Education, Vocational Training, and Experience

    • Associate or Bachelor Nursing degree
    • Peri anesthesia experience preferred
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience in critical care, telemetry, or emergency room
