    Facility Description:


    Bergan Mercy Surgery Center is a fast pace multi-specialty ambulatory surgical center with 3 OR’s, and 2 procedure rooms. We are a values base company which places clinical first. Our ASC is located on the CUMC-Bergan Mercy campus, yet is a separate LLC of the health system. Our teammates are all employed by Surgical Care Affiliates. 

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    Accountable for the provision of nursing care in the assigned post-operative areas of the surgery center.  Ensure patient needs are met in accordance with instructions of physician and facility administrative procedures.  Participate in various quality activities as appropriate and as directed by the Charge Nurse/ Director of Nursing, Medical Director and/or the Quality Committee(s). Perform nursing care for the patient in the immediate post-operative/post-anesthesia period, assessing and documenting patient’s status upon arrival in the recovery room. Provide nursing care to meet patient needs related to surgical condition and type of anesthesia administered, monitoring patient and informing surgeon and/or anesthesia provider of observed complications.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Effectively organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel.
    • Uses equipment effectively by anticipating patient needs and providing appropriate care.
    • Confirms that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted Standards of Practice and organizational policies and procedures.
    • Assists with the ordering, receiving, and storage of supplies.
    • Maintains order and cleanliness of the post-operative area.



    Education - Required:

    • High School graduate or GED certificate recipient
    • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
    • Current licensure in the State of Nebraska as a Registered Nurse
    • Must be current in ACLS & PALS (when applicable per policy)
    • ACLS/PALS certification within six months of hire date (applicable to scope of service)

     Education - Preferred:

    • Computer literacy
    • BSN Degree


    • Previous work experience in an ambulatory surgery setting or acute hospital recovery room of no less than one (1) year. 


    • Attendance: per Bergan Mercy Surgery Center policy
    • Punctuality
    • Ability to meet deadlines
