    Facility Description: Preston Plaza Surgery Center is a five operating room, multi-specialty out-patient facility that is accredited by AAAHC.  Specialties include Orthopedics, General Surgery, GI, Pain, ENT, and Ophthalmology.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    Full-time Registered Nurse responsible for obtaining the pre-admission interview/assessment for patients scheduled to undergo an invasive or surgical procedure.  The RN will communicate with patients, physician offices and referral sources to obtain appropriate health histories and clearances prior to the date of procedure/surgery in order to ensure optimal patient outcomes. 


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ability to correlate clinical data with patient’s medical and nursing care
    • Conducts pre-procedure phone screening and research to assess medical and medication history, review clearances/obtain clearances as necessary and notifies physicians, anesthesia providers and facility team accordingly
    • Assesses, plans, evaluates and ensures the implementation of the patient’s care to achieve identified outcomes and delivers safe patient care according to facility policy and procedure.
    • Demonstrates ability to provide detailed pre-procedure education for patients and family members
    • Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance, sensitivity, diplomacy, sound judgement, and a professional attitude and effective communication skills (verbal and written) when relating with patients, physicians, family members and teammates
    • Protects patient’s sensitivities and right to privacy
    • Possesses a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems and can be relied upon to make sound decisions. Understands and considers the ramifications decisions may have on other departments
    • Consistent, dependable and accurate in carrying out responsibilities to a successful conclusion
    • Excels in self-directing and self-pacing
    • Performs duties with frequent interruptions, in close quarters and under time constraints in a professional manner
    • Displays a caring and responsive attitude and conducts all activities respecting patient, family, and employee rights and expectations.


    • Required – Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
    • Current Licensure to practice professional nursing in Texas or eligibility to do so
    • Successful completion of BLS, ACLS, and PALS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current certifications.
    • Minimum one year experience in Pre-Admission preferred
