    Facility Description:

     

    Texas Health Surgery Center Irving is an Ambulatory Surgery Center located in Irving, Texas. The center is a joint venture partnership with Precision Orthopedics, SCA and Texas Health Resources. The newly renovated facility is located on the second floor of a medical office building shared with Precision Orthopedics. The facility performs orthopedic, spine and pain management procedures in 2 Operating Rooms and 1 Procedure Room. Hours operation are Monday through Friday.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    The Preadmission RN screens each patient prior to surgery as acceptable candidates for ambulatory surgery. The Preadmissions nurse works closely with the physicians, physician offices, Nurse Managers and patients ensuring the patient is prepared for Admission on the day of surgery.  The Preadmissions nurse will assist in Pre-Op and PACU as needed. The Preadmissions Nurse is responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes through implementation of critical pathways and in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the facility.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for obtaining, organizing, assessing and coordinating each patient’s preoperative documentation and diagnostic testing prior to the patient’s surgery.
    • Ability to correlate clinical data with patient’s medical and nursing care.
    • Ability to set priorities.
    • Possess attention to detail with the ability to problem solve patient issues when they arise.
    • Ability to communicate well and clearly with patients, families, members of the healthcare team, physicians, physician offices and nurse managers.
    • Recognizes legal and policy limits of individual practice.

    Qualifications

    • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
    • Current state licensure to practice.
    • At least 1-2 years of Pre-op/PACU/PAT nursing experience preferred.
    • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS)/Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification. Successful completion of ACLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.
    • Skills and Abilities
      • Ability to correlate clinical data with patient’s medical and nursing care.
      • Ability to communicate well with patients, families, Teammates, physicians, other members of the healthcare team, etc.
      • Ability to provide direction to others that is clear, concise and promotes efficiency throughout the clinical areas of the facility.
      • Recognizes legal and policy limits of individual practice.
      • Ability to set priorities.
