    Facility Description:

    The position is for the Bedford, Texas location at multi-specialty facility, free-standing ambulatory surgery center.  The Center is conveniently located in the Hurst, Euless, Bedford (HEB) area.  We are a joint venture with local physicians, Texas Health Resources and Surgical Care Affiliates.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    This position is the “face” of the facility. The teammate will provide support to the facility by performing specific or various business office functions as assigned. These functions are to include (but not limited to): Surgery Scheduling, Medical Records, Admissions Intake, Greeting patients/visitors, maintaining appearance of the lobby, Answering Phones, Accounts Payable data entry, Collections, Insurance Verification, Transaction Posting and other clerical duties as assigned

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Skills and Abilities:
      • Is responsible for direct supervision of non-medical personnel, including hiring, orientation, ongoing training, and evaluation
      • Ensures that administrative and accounting procedures are carried out timely and accurately.
      • Responsible for accurate scheduling of cases.
      • Responsible for office supplies and equipment.
      • Responsible for petty cash and accounts receivable.
      • Works accounts receivable as needed and follows up on all accounts and coordinates with the regional business office as needed.
      • Acts as liaison with insurance companies
      • Coordinate all functions of the Business Office so that the operation is most efficient for all concerned.
      • Works closely with Clinical Leadership so that the flow of the overall operation is most efficient, reporting all activities to the Administrator.
      • Works closely with the Administrator to promote the utilization of the Surgery Center.
      • Responsible for the accurate interpretation and implementation of the terms of contracts with all third party payers.
      • Answers telephone as needed.
      • Demonstrates competency in performing job task and in operating equipment on an annual basis
      • Demonstrates appropriate awareness of age specific development needs the population served as it is related to the performance of departmental duties.
      • Utilizes time effectively
      • Completes assigned projects to enhance the functionality of the business office, coordinating with the Administrator and Clinical Director.
      • Performs other miscellaneous secretarial duties as needed.
      • Performs all other duties assigned by supervisor.
    • Clinical Quality:
      • Communicates patient information to assure confidentiality and continuity of care
        • Documents all patient information according to established standards of care, policies and procedures
        • Discusses patient information with other health team members in an appropriate environment
      • Interacts with all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees in a mature, responsible manner to ensure a positive and professional facility environment
        • Displays a caring and responsive attitude and conducts all activities respecting patient, family and employee rights and expectations
        • Maintains confidentiality of all facility and patient information as required by facility policy
      • Considers age specific needs in communication.
    • Teamwork/Accountability/Integrity:
      • Utilizes time effectively.
      • Follows established facility policies and procedures with regard to attendance.
        • Maintains attendance according to guidelines and policy established by CBO.
        • Provides notification for unscheduled absences or tardiness in accordance with established departmental procedures as noted by supervisor.
        • Requests scheduled time off according to procedure as noted by supervisor.
      • Completes all documentation to ensure the availability of accurate and up to date information in accordance with established standards.
      • Adheres to established facility CBO requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
        • Demonstrates to competent usage of proper body mechanics in all activities.
        • Identifies potentially unsafe situations and notifies supervisor.
        • Completes all Teammate/patient event and Variance documentation in a thorough and timely manner, as required by policy.
        • Demonstrates complete understanding of established emergency procedures for facility.
        • Maintains work area and equipment in a neat, organized manner.
      • Completes appropriate financial management responsibilities.
        • Provides input re: equipment needs/supply needs.
        • Completes patient charges in accordance with facility procedure and per facility policy.
        • Demonstrates sound cost containment techniques.
      • Assists with housekeeping tasks as necessary to provide a safe environment for patient’s, teammates, physicians, guests.
      • Upholds and practices the principles and policies of the SCA Compliance program.
      • Performs all other duties as assigned by management.
    • Continuous Improvement:
      • Attends staff meetings and demonstrates review of minutes for any meetings missed.
      • Participates in scheduled performance appraisals and demonstrates dedication to ongoing performance improvement.

    Qualifications

    • Bilingual – Spanish/English Preferred
    • 5 years work experience of surgery scheduling or surgical technician experience preferred.
    • Computer experience, Medical software and applications, Word, Excel
    • Knowledge of office machines (i.e. computer, scanner, fax, copier, multi-line phone system with voicemail, etc.).
    • Have ability to communicate effectively with patient, payors, physicians, and other teammates
    • Possess working knowledge of medical terminology, insurance lines of business and standard coordination of benefits methodology
    • Have the ability to evaluate problematic situations and multiple alternative scenarios and come to independent conclusions on how to respond
    • Ability to provide direction to others that is clear, concise and promotes efficiency throughout the center
    • Knowledgeable of HIPPA guidelines, Red Flag Rules, and Medicare Conditions of Coverage requirements
    • Is courteous, understanding and sympathetic toward patients, physicians and others.
    • Ability to cross train and multitask, be flexible with work schedule, maintain regular attendance and s
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities and work independently.
    • Ability to interact in a positive manner and to communicate well with patients, families, co-workers, supervisor and other facility employees.
