    Facility Description:

    Blue Ridge Surgery Center is a fast pace multi-specialty ambulatory surgical center with 6 OR’s, and 2 procedure rooms. We average 750 cases a month. We are a values-based company which places clinical quality first.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    Seeking Business Office Clerk with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to work in a fast-paced environment. The potential candidate must be reliable, detail oriented, self-directed, demonstrate initiative, skilled problem solver and have a positive and cooperative work ethic. This role will provide support to the facility by performing various business office functions as assigned.  These functions are to include (but not limited to): Admissions/Intake, Insurance Verification, Medical Records , Accounts Payable and Surgery Scheduling. 


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Register patients upon arrival to facility, to include tasks such as verification of patient identity, financial, demographic and insurance information, ensures completion of required paperwork, etc.
    • Answer incoming calls, relay accurate information and direct calls appropriately
    • Scheduling of surgical procedures
    • Obtain and accurately enter patient demographics, insurance authorizations and workup from physician offices at time of scheduling
    • Provide surgical cost estimates to patients with their amount due at time of service
    • Preparation of medical charts for next day, ensuring all documentation, including records from prior visits are appropriately included
    • Cross-training in all areas of business office as required


    • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or equivalent preferred
    • Working knowledge of Medical Terminology, health insurance and CPT & ICD 10 coding required
    • Surgical scheduling experience preferred
    • Possess knowledge of computer work including typing, word processing, spreadsheets and healthcare billing systems
    • Ability to interact in a positive manner and to communicate well with patients, families, payors, physicians and other teammates
    • Possess strong initiative to get daily work finished and processed
    • Ability to adhere to attendance policy
