    Facility Description:


    First Coast Surgery Center is a new orthopedic surgery center located in Jacksonville, FL.  As the first Director of Nursing, the person filling this role will have the opportunity to work with the CEO and other resources to hire clinical teammates, develop and operationalize policies and procedures, and create a highly efficient work environment that enables teammates and physicians to provide care with excellent clinical quality.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for all aspects of nursing care delivery in the facility and assumes responsibility as a department lead of the OR, Preop, and PACU.  The DON is also responsible for overseeing the facility’s quality improvement, risk management, infection control and education Coordinator as well.  The DON may assume some additional responsibility in the absence of the CEO/Administrator.  As a Registered Nurse, the DON is also responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge and may be responsible for providing patient care.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provides leadership oversight to ensure patient needs are met in accordance with instructions of physician and facility’s policies & procedures.
    • Demonstrates respect for co-workers & leadership and develops positive working relationships within departments.
    • Communicates with courtesy when interacting with patients, physicians, teammates, surgical schedulers, vendors and the public – in person, on the telephone, or by email.
    • Analyzes and correlates clinical data with patient’s medical and nursing care.
    • Provides direction to others that is clear, concise and promotes efficiency throughout the clinical areas of the facility.
    • Recognizes legal policy limits and individual practice.


    Required Qualifications:

    • Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Florida.
    • Two (2) to five (5) years of experience working at an ambulatory surgery center.
    • Must understand State and CMS regulations and quality reporting and develop and maintain clinical policies and procedures in accordance with such.
    • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS)/Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), ACLS, and PALS within 90 days of employment or documentation of current certification.
    • Excellent communication skills.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Multispecialty Operating Room/PACU experience strongly preferred.
    • Must be personable and exhibit flexibility and positive interpersonal skills.
    • Experience working with HST, Excel, Word.
