    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    The Director of Clinical Education and Training will serve as a steward for patient safety and possess the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders. To be successful, the Director will possess excellent written, oral and motivational communication skills up through the executive level. The Director will be working in concert with SCA Clinical Services, operational leadership and Support Services both strategically and tactically, to include attending, participating, and/or developing the structure for vital education and training programs and offerings. Representing SCA and collaborating with a variety of external professional organizations in addition to the following is vital to the role: 

    • Development, coordination, and communication of strategic planning initiatives, key performance indicators, needs assessment and evaluation of the organization’s education and training program to facility and operations leaders and SCA Support Services Departments as applicable
    • Maintain Current Knowledge of literature, corporate and facilities-based training tools and programs
    • Provide collaboration, mentorship, leadership, and/or consultation regarding clinical education and training initiatives to Facility, Clinical, and Support Services department leaders
    • Ensure education and training related policy and procedures comply with regulatory and accreditation standards and provide consultative services as appropriate
    • Utilize software and/or online applications to deploy, store, track, report, etc. education and training programs
    • Develop and/or endorse staff and/or patient educational programs, tools, and resources which optimize patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors

    Qualifications

    • Licensed Registered Nurse, BSN required, MSN preferred with a minimum of ten years’ experience working as a Registered Nurse, to include nursing leadership position(s) related experience
    • Active membership in the Association of peri-Operative Registered Nurses (AORN)
    • Minimum of five years’ experience in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)/Surgical Hospital industry and ASC operations
    • Minimum of three years’ experience with oversight of a clinical education department, serving in a Clinical Educator related role
    • Experience and proficient in use of Microsoft products (Office 365, One-Drive, Share Point, Yammer, Word, Excel, and Power Point), and Web-based clinical platforms i.e. Learning Management Systems, etc.
    • Continues personal and professional development through active participation in and contribution to industry conferences, meeting presentations, journal publication and educational offerings. Examples include but are not limited to ASCA and associated state groups, AHRQ, AORN, ASPAN, AAMI, AAAHC, TJC, CMS, ASCQC, APIC, CDC, OSHA, IHI, WHO, and other similar organizations 
    • Experience and understanding of patient care delivery to include staff member roles in the peri-operative setting
    • Competent and experienced with regulatory and accreditation standards and survey readiness process
    • Development and implementation of staff orientation and training programs based on patient safety, quality improvement, healthcare industry and/or organizational needs
    • Experience and proficient in use of education and/or competency related key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure performance and ability to execute strategies based on findings
    • Experience developing and/or revising policies and procedures to reflect evidence, industry, and/or needs of the organization
    • Experience managing local facility and/or organizational based education program(s)
    • Experience managing continuing education (CE) programs
