    Facility Description: 

    East Pavilion Surgery Center is a new Ambulatory Surgery Center located in the East Pavilion of Providence St. Vincent’s Medical Center at 9135 SW Barnes Rd., Suite 161.  The facility will open with five operating rooms. East Pavilion Surgery Center will be proud to offer a wide range of outpatient services to patients, including but not limited to Urology, Otorhinolaryngology, Neurology, Gynecology and Plastic Surgery 

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for obtaining information on patient's eligibility status, verification of benefits, and authorization requirements with insurance companies to ensure proper coverage and payment for services—while providing exceptional customer service.

     

    • High school diploma and/or equivalent.
    • 1 year billing experience, 3 years insurance verification experience (preferred)
    • Physician, Payor, Insurance billing, and/or Medical Front Office experience; and/or experience as a Patient Service Representative, Patient Service Coordinator, or Billing A/R.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Greets patients and answers the phone in a courteous and professional manner, always answering within 3 rings.
    • Ensures accurate and thorough documentation and completion of all necessary paperwork on time, according to established standards and procedures.
    • Works with patients to obtain complete and correct insurance information, discuss eligibility results, and discuss alternative payment methods.
    • Properly analyzes various Payor eligibility responses to find the information needed to complete the verification.
    • Works with Referring Physician offices to obtain complete and correct insurance and patient clinical history information required for Payor pre-authorization.
    • Obtains and confirms insurance pre-authorizations when necessary.
    • Adheres to all HIPAA, OSHA, regulatory, compliance, privacy and confidentiality standards at all times, maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
    • Maintains insurance verification log of accounts/procedures verified.
    • Will cross train with A/R and Billing Specialist positions.
    • Utilizes telephone voice response systems and internet / intranet website solutions to obtain information on patient's eligibility status with insurance companies.
    • Keeps work area in a pristine and organized condition; regularly checking equipment, accessories, and supplies; keeping area stocked at all times.
    • Promotes and supports the company’s Vision / Mission / Values.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma and/or equivalent.
