    Facility Description:

    Texas Health Surgery Center Preston Plaza is a multi-specialty, free-standing ambulatory surgery center.  The Center is conveniently located in far North Dallas.  We are a joint venture with local physicians, Texas Health Resources and surgical Care affiliates.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    Position Description: This position is the “face” of the facility.  The position purpose is to support the facility by greeting patients/visitors in a friendly, calm manner; maintaining appearance of the lobby; answering phone, and acting as a resource for facility. Registers patients on the day of surgery and performs other medical office functions. The position interfaces with our patients , physicians and vendors as well as our clinical and business office team and acts a communication liaison between departments    Additional duties will include assisting with medical records and chart assembly, completion and storage.  Medical Records Clerk processes and organizes medical records in a timely manner and in compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies, as well as state and federal laws. The Medical Record Clerk ensures completeness of the record by auditing charts and completing a medical records checklist. Medical Records Clerk handles the storage and retention of charts, responds to requests for medical record, copies and maintains medical record tracking log. The Medical Records Clerk will function within the Center’s policies and procedures, support SCA Values, SCA Vision and SCA Mission.  


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Greet and direct visitors to the correct departments.
    • Register patients in HST and Casetabs
    • Maintain visitor sign in.
    • Maintain clean and tidy waiting room/lobby area.
    • Verify vendor appointments and direct vendor to complete Reptrax verification.
    • Act as a resource for facility visitors and physicians.
    • Answer incoming calls to the facility. Relay information in accurate, concise manner .
    • Intercept faxes and distribute to appropriate department.
    • Scan Document Central to HST
    • Maintain patient privacy per HIPAA regulations.



    • Basic knowledge of medical terminology. Typing or keyboarding skills.
    • Knowledge of office machines (i.e. computer, scanner, fax, copier, multi-line phone system with voicemail, etc.).
    • Knowledgable of HIPAA guidelines, Red Flag Rules, and Medicare Conditions of Coverage requirements
    • Ability to interact in a positive manner and to communicate well with patients, families, co-workers, physicians, supervisor and other facility teammates.
    • Versatile and willing to coordinate with and participate in, when necessary, all other aspects of the Business Office.
    • Adhere to attendance/PTO policy
