    Facility Description:

     

    The Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery (CMIS) is an outpatient surgery center with 4 ORs and 1 procedure room offering advance surgical procedures to patients in a unique patient-focused environment.  CMIS currently offers surgeries in Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, Podiatry, Pain Management, General Spine Surgery and Orthopedics including complex spine surgery and total joint surgery of the knee, shoulder and hip.  In addition, CMIS has a unique 5 bed Recovery Care Center which allows postoperative stays up to 48 hours.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician who is dependable, detail-oriented, skilled problem solver that have a collaborative, friendly working style.  The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontamination, correct tray assembly, and sterile processing of all instrumentation used in the operating room.  The candidate must have a working knowledge of regulatory standards for universal precautions, sterilization methodologies, and regulatory standards for biological monitoring.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Effectively organizes time, equipment, and supplies.
    • Uses equipment effectively.
    • Anticipates surgeon needs.
    • Confirms that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of Practice and organizational policies and procedures.
    • Maintains order and cleanliness of the designated areas.
    • Reviews surgery schedule on an ongoing basis to determine priority of surgical instrumentation needed.
    • Inspects, tests, assembles, packages and labels OR surgical instruments in preparation of sterilization to ensure that instruments are ready and available when needed.
    • Interprets OR surgery schedule and selects appropriate case cart set up lists.
    • Prepares and uses solutions per manufactures instructions used in the decontamination of OR instrumentation and equipment.
    • Follows OR written policies and procedures in decontamination of OR instrumentation.

    Qualifications

    • High school graduate or equivalent.
    • Proficiency and understanding of sterilization and high-level disinfection technologies including industry standardized principles and practice in sterilization and disinfection required.
    • 3 Years prior experience in instrument processing preferred.
    • Prior experience as a surgical technologist/procedure technologist is a consideration plus.
    • Successful completion of BCLS Course within 90 days of employment required or documentation of current BCLS certification.
    • Certification in instrument processing is required.
    • Ability to be highly flexible in the overall support of the needs and tasks of the center.
