    Facility Description:

    Texas Health Surgery Center-Park Hill

    5 Operating room facility specializing in orthopedics, general surgery, ophthalmology and ENT.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    Provides planned, skilled nursing care for patients in the critical preoperative and postoperative periods.  Provides continuous patient surveillance for early recognition and immediate emergency treatment of medical or surgical complications that may arise in any postoperative period.

    • Assists in assessing the physical, emotional, and developmental status of the patient upon admission according to Facility policy.
    • Develops a plan for patient care based on assessment data. Considers present and past disease processes, medication, allergies, and personalizes a plan of care according to the patient.
    • Educates patient and family about routing pre/post care and updates when necessary.
    • Provides comfort and reassurance to the patient and supports the patient’s right to privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
    • Implements and documents preoperative care according to Facility policy including evaluation, medication administration, and confirmation/preparation of operative site.
    • Performs safe and individualized nursing care for the patient in the immediate postoperative setting including receiving report, assessing and documenting patient’s physical status and comparing pre and postoperative data.
    • Assures that discharge instructions are given and understood by patient and caregiver.


    • Graduate of accredited school of nursing required.
    • Current TX licensure required.
    • Postoperative or critical care experience preferred.
    • CPR/ACLS certification required. PALS certification preferred.
