    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    Performs all duties necessary to maintain the standards of the HIM department in accordance with facility policies.  Assist nurses, physicians and patients with accurate medical documentation upon request to ensure the continuity of care. Precisely review all medical records in accordance with HIM standards in a timely manner. Accurately scan all medical documentation in EMR system.  Ensures all medical records are accurately scanned into patient’s charts and noted by proper medical personnel staff.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Scan medical records under appropriate titles indicated in Cerner EMR system.
    • Review medical documents in Cerner system under Power-chart to reflect the HIM Department standards and facility bylaws.
    • Retrieves medical documentation from varies systems to ensure an accurate and complete chart.
    • Maintains patient confidentiality standards for both medical and financial information.
    • Keeps job related skills current through facility-provided and other training programs.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned.
    • Good telephone communication skills


    • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Health Information Management or Medical Records department position
