    Facility Description:  Channel Islands Surgicenter is a fast-paced multispecialty center with 3 operating rooms and 3 GI rooms. 

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    The Medical Assistant is responsible for administrative tasks as well as clinical duties.  Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Medical Assistant performs assigned tasks that involve specific services for patients which are supportive and complementary to nursing practice.  Functions as a Medical Assistant in the Pre-op/PACU departments under the direction of the Registered Nurse

     

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assists with stocking, replenishing of supplies
    • Completes daily logs and reports all readings outside of normal ranges
    • Performs post-op phone calls under the direction the clinical leader/registered nurse
    • Replaces sharp containers as need
    • Assists patients with dressing
    • Obtains patient vital signs
    • Cleans and/or disinfects gurneys, wheelchairs and equipment after use and returns it to the proper area for storage
    • Performs blood sugar accuchecks and urine pregnancy tests under the direction of the clinical leader/registered nurse
    • Assistance with complying of medical records

    Qualifications

    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • Prior experience as a Medical Assistant preferred
    • Certification preferred
    • BCLS
