    Facility Description:

    Tinley Woods Surgery Center is an outpatient surgery center with 4 operating rooms and 1 GI/minor procedure room offering several surgical procedures and specialties in a patient-focused environment. Tinley Woods Surgery Center currently offers surgeries and procedures in Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, Podiatry, Urology and General Surgery including laparoscopic surgeries.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    The primary responsibility of the OR Surgical Technician is to advocate for safe patient care while in the operating room.  The Surgical Technician reports directly to the OR Clinical Manager.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Prepare for surgical procedures through utilization of physician preference cards, assembly of supplies and equipment and through preparation of the sterile field.
    • Demonstrates and utilizes aseptic technique while assisting surgeons and anticipating needs.
    • Assists with patient positioning and transfers as directed by the circulating nurse.
    • Work cooperatively and effectively with other clinical staff, surgeons, and anesthesiologists.
    • Pick correct supplies for next days' cases, maintain appropriate levels of supply inventory in operating rooms, and maintain appropriate supply levels overall specific to surgical specialties.
    • Must be able to handle moderate to heavy amounts of lifting patients, supplies and instruments trays.
    • Accept additional related duties as assigned by the OR Clinical Coordinator.


    • Graduate of a surgical technology program
    • 2 years or more of OR experience required
    • Ophthalmology experience preferred
    • Experience with all surgical specialties and age groups preferred
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
