    Facility Description:

    Glenwood Surgical Center, a partner of Surgical Care Affiliates (SCA) is a multi-specialty outpatient surgery center located in Riverside, Ca. The surgery center averages 600+ procedures each month. Our center works hard to ensure quality, safe and efficient patient care in a patient and family friendly atmosphere.  Specialties include, Anesthesiology, Gastroenterology, General surgery, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), Pain Management, Plastic Surgery/Reconstructive, Podiatry and Urology.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    The PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient

    care from PACU admission to discharge. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the achievement of

    patient outcomes in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the facility.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assesses patient status on admission and on an ongoing basis. Checks dressings, drains, tubes and patency of catheters as appropriate.
    • Demonstrates ability to direct and provide for patient care in emergency situations. Monitors vital signs, recognize emergencies and notify Anesthesiologists.
    • Carries out MD orders and demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for position.
    • Performs waived test quality checks and runs diagnostic waived tests per center policy/procedure.
    • Promotes physical comfort and provide emotional support and safety for patient.
    • Assures availability and proper function and operation of equipment.
    • Protects patient rights to privacy.
    • Assists with preoperative and postoperative patient calls.
    • Requests Anesthesia exam and discharge order or discharge per criteria as appropriate. Explain discharge instructions with patient, family, responsible adult.
    • Assist patient in dressing and transports patient to family using transportation safety.


    • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing. 
    • At least one year of outpatient surgery /medical/surgical nursing experience preferred. 
    • Current state licensure to practice.
    • Documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification. 
    • Successful completion of ACLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.
    • Successful completion of PALS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation or current PALS certification.
