    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    Facility Description:

    Busy ambulatory surgery center with six OR’s and two GI suites performing between 30 and 60 cases a day. Established since 1992. Physician supported facility bonus plan annually. Lunches available daily for all staff. Other events and perks provided spontaneously throughout the year.




    Position Description:

    Central Sterile Technician needed per diem. The Central sterile Technician is responsible for cleaning, processing, wrapping, sterilizing, care and maintenance, all the surgical instruments, trays and equipment needed for the operating room. The Central Sterile Technician is also responsible for ensuring all sterile processing guidelines, all manufacturers guidelines, and all infection control guidelines are met, in compliance with the philosophy of the facility, standards of practice and regulations of governing agencies. Certification preferred. Prior experience required.

    Monday to Friday days. Shift start and length flexes with surgical schedule.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Differentiate sterilization methods required for specific instruments and equipment.
    • Demonstrate ability to understand and use autoclaves, Sterrad, cleaners, instrument
    • Performs all required quality testing on all autoclaves, Sterrad, and ultrasonic cleaners
    • Prepares and monitors high level disinfectant solutions.
    • Documents and maintains appropriate logs for all sterilization techniques.
    • Clean, process and sterilize all instruments and instrument trays according to manufacturer’s guidelines or instructions for use (IFU’s).
    • Assist OR personnel with locating and obtaining instrumentation required for procedures.
    • Make appropriate substitutions for damaged and missing instruments
    • Ensure damaged instruments get repaired and not put back into circulation
    • Check upcoming OR schedule to alleviate instrument conflicts and develop a processing plan
    • Check for outdates on a regular rotational basis
    • Maintains adequate supplies for central sterile department
    • Comply with OSHA standards



    • High School Graduate
    • At least 1 year prior experience
    • BLS
    • Certification preferred
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Good organizational skills
