    Facility Description:  

    San Luis Obispo Surgery  Center  is a 3 OR multi-specialty surgery center in partnership with SurgicalCare Affiliates, Sutter Health,and local physicians. The ASC is Medicare certified and accredited by The Joint  Commission. Specialties include ophthalmology, (including VAG Laser & SLT), general, orthopedic surgery, otolaryngology, plastic/reconstructive, spine  surgery, and pain management procedures.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is responsible for the provision of nursing care to meet identified patient outcomes, and to achieve the goals of the facility as directed by the Registered Nurse. The LPN/LVN performs duties according to state nursing board scope of practice and facility position description. 

    • Assesses, plans, evaluates and ensures the implementation of the patient's care to achieve identified outcomes and delivers safe patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse and/or MDA according to facility policy and procedure. 
    • Assumes an active role in the provision of quality nursing care for patients receiving care, under the supervision of   the registered nurse.
    • Demonstrates continued competence in treating and caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective.
    •  Demonstrates  appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for position in postanesthesia patient care duties 


    • Graduate  of an Accredited School of Nursing.  

    • At least one year of medical/surgical nursing experience preferred. Current  state licensure to practice.

    • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS)/Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification.

    • Successful completion of ACLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation or current ACLS certification.

    • Successful completion of PALS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation or current PALS certification.
