    Facility Description: Physician’s Surgical Care Center is a very busy and fast paced 6 OR, 2 procedural room free standing ambulatory surgery center in Winter Park Florida.  We specialize in Orthopaedic’s, ENT and Pain management. PSCC has a brand new building in the heart of Winter Park which is located in Central Florida. Over the past 2 years we have developed a highly specialized Spine and Total Joint program. We are currently the only outpatient surgery center in the Central Florida area that performs outpatient robotic uni-compartmental knees and total hip procedures. Our teammates are among the best in the industry in terms of experience and professionalism.     Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    PSCC is actively seeking an operating room Circulator with a minimum of 2 years OR experience, orthopedic experience is strongly preferred.  We are looking for  part time or per diem. The opening is immediate.

     

    Key Responsibilities: The circulating nurse is responsible for monitoring the surgical procedures and assists by acting as an intermediary between the operating room staff and the rest of the surgery center. The position is responsible for providing efficient and effective patient care and achievement of desired patient outcomes.  Ensuring the efficient and cost-effective use of departmental resources necessary to provide safety quality care to our patients and physicians.

    • Ensure safe patient care within the peri-op unit. Ensuring that proper patient identification, time outs, resources, and supplies are available to maintain a safe environment. 
    • Promotes/supports growth of others through precepting, mentoring, and orientation when appropriate. Serves as a positive, clinical role model to facilitate staff development, providing pertinent feedback to manager or designee.
    • Keeps the surgical area clean and organized for the scrub and the physician; removes instruments and sponges as they are used during the procedure.
    • Assist in room turnover process and that the surgical room is sterile and safe for the patient. Ensuring that the goals of the unit are met and maintained to provide for better room utilization.
    • Maintains environment and supply inventory, including assuring the procurement of necessary supplies, equipment and expertise, and the timely delivery of needed care, and alerting administration of these needs in a timely manner.
    • Prepares the patient for the procedure and handles the preparation for the operating room including educating the patient before the surgery takes place and participates in patient handoff during times of transition.
    • Is engaged in helping to ensure that OR metrics, process improvement, work processes, providing solutions and actions plans to reach departmental metrics and goals.
    • Assesses the patient’s condition before a surgical procedure and works with a physician to develop the care plan for the patient during the surgery.

    Qualifications

    • Associates degree in nursing from an accredited required, a bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
    • Current RN licensure in the state of Florida required
    • Minimum two years of nursing experience in acute OR setting, with at least 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the Orthopedic specialty area preferred
    • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required
    • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or obtained within 3 months strongly preferred
    • Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or obtained within 3 months strongly preferred
