    Pocono Ambulatory Surgery Center is located in the center of the Pocono Mountains in Stroudsburg, PA.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    • Develop an ongoing communication plan with physician office schedulers to assess satisfaction and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills to supersede expectations and demonstrate exceptional professional behavior as a representative of SCA.
    • Obtain and accurately enter accurate patient demographic, insurance authorization and workup from physician offices at time of scheduling.
    • Review block utilization weekly and monthly to release block times not being used and actively backfill with other cases.
    • Maximize efficiency within the surgery schedule by organizing cases.
    • Communicate and partner with the back-up Physician Office Liaison in a manner that is consistent for the center to maintain its high level of service.
    • Coordinates schedule with physician time, staffing, procedure complexity, patient age/needs and equipment availability in mind.
    • Works closely with Clinical Director to avoid equipment or supply conflicts.
    • Ensures all necessary paper work for any patient ”add- on” is received by the appropriate staff.
    • Communicates changes to schedule to appropriate staff.
    • Verifies information being entered into system is correct, i.e. spelling of name, DOB, gender, insurance information, etc.
    • Accurately uses procedure codes to ensure proper billing.
    • Work with business office in identifying and costing high dollar implants to ensure reimbursement.
    • Maintains copy of medical staff Delineation of Privileges to determine appropriateness of scheduled procedure.
    • Enters GPS data into the computer system.


    • Ability to prioritize and work independently.
    • Ability to provide direction to others that is clear, concise and promotes efficiency throughout the center.
    • Knowledge of CPT 4 and ICD 10 codes.
    • Has thorough knowledge of ASC allowable procedures.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of insurance lines of business.
    • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
    • Have the ability to evaluate problematic situations and multiple alternative scenarios and come to independent conclusions on how to respond appropriately.
    • Have ability to communicate effectively with patient, payors, physicians, and other teammates.
    • Possess knowledge of typing, word processing, spreadsheet and computer billing systems.
