    Facility Description:


    The Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery (CMIS) is an outpatient surgery center with 4 ORs and 1 procedure room offering advance surgical procedures to patients in a unique patient-focused environment.  CMIS currently offers surgeries in Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, Podiatry, Pain Management, Urology, General Spine Surgery and Orthopedics including complex spine surgery and total joint surgery of the knee, shoulder and hip.  In addition, CMIS has a unique 5 bed Recovery Care Center which allows postoperative stays up to 48 hours.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    The circulating nurse is primarily responsible to advocate for safe patient care during their time spent in the operating room.  The circulating nurse reports directly the OR Clinical Manager.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • The circulator prepares the surgical suite for scheduled cases, reviewing the surgeon preference cards and assuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are gathered and ready for the procedure.
    • Assisting anesthesia during induction and emergence from anesthesia, safe positioning of patients based on the needs of the physician and patient, prepping, counting of sharps and sponges, controlling the flow of traffic in the room, accurate documentation of the procedure, implants and charges.
    • Act as the liaison to all of the pre-operative, peri-operative and post-operative team members, as well as patients and family members.
    • The position is responsible for providing efficient and effective patient care and achievement of desired patient outcomes.
    • Ensure the efficient and cost-effective use of departmental resources necessary to provide safe quality care to our patients and physicians.
    • Ensure that proper patient identification, time outs, resources, and supplies are available to maintain a safe environment.


    • Registered Nurse licensed by the State of Illinois
    • 4 years perioperative nursing experience
    • Current CPR certification
    • CNOR preferred
    • BSN preferred
    • Scrubbing also a plus
