    Surgical Care Affiliates located in Deerfield, IL is currently seeking a Director of Operations.


    SCA owns and/or provides management services to 205 ambulatory surgery centers, surgical hospitals, and hospital surgery departments, in partnership with approximately 2,800 physicians and in affiliation with 105 health systems.     Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    The Director is responsible for the duties outlined below, in addition to any additional projects required in the region.


    Management of Facility CEOs

    • Build and support operations and clinical team in surgical center facilities
    • Lead talent management processes at facility level: help define and clarify roles, set expectations for performance, evaluate and top grade talent where needed, and prepare for succession planning

    Physician Relationship Development/Growth

    • Partner with Facility Administrator/CEOs and regional resources to identify, recruit, and onboard new physicians to existing partnerships
    • Develop relationships with pivotal physicians to improve share of practice
    • Support partnership efforts to introduce and scale new service lines
    • Visible and positive presence in the facilities, regularly

    Governance Support

    • Assist Facility Administrator/CEOs to lead physician partnership meetings and board activities
    • Attend Medical Executive Committee/governing body and partnership meetings
    • Liaise between SCA, Optum enterprise and local physician partners
    • Embody SCA Values and maintain clarity, transparency, and trust


    • Meet or exceed targeted output on SCA Vitals (teammate engagement, clinical quality, physician satisfaction, and earnings growth)
    • Realize improvements on Vitals performance through targeted, prioritized initiatives
    • Lead budgeting preparation with each partnership and SCA FinOps, and contribute to forecasting revisions and LTP planning
    • Participate in reporting and management processes, including monthly growth reviews

    Strategy / Market Development

    • Assist regional and group leadership in framing and refining market strategy and tangible value propositions
    • Engage and manage relationships at key constituents in the market, including health system partners, large specialist practices, and medical groups
    • Work closely with SCA managed care team to provide insight and identify opportunities for growth in network construction


    • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters preferred
    • Graduate of a healthcare degree program or a minimum of four years management experience in healthcare
    • Must be experienced in working with various levels of teammates
    • Experience in working with physicians, patients, and various clinical staff desirable
    • Knowledge of management principles, including human resources, budget planning, and monitoring and customer service
    • Works independently and self-motivated
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and comfortable making decisions
    • Excellent communication skills
