Facility Description: Specialty Surgical Center located in Sparta NJ is a busy multi-specialty, 2 OR, outpatient surgery center, primarily performing orthopedics, ENT, urology, GYN and pain management procedures.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Per Diem Nights/Weekends Sterile Processing Technician who is dependable, detail-oriented, skilled problem solver and has a collaborative, friendly working style.  The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontamination, correct tray assembly, and sterile processing of all instrumentation used in the operating room.  The candidate must have a working knowledge of regulatory standards for universal precautions, sterilization methodologies, and regulatory standards for biological monitoring. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning/decontamination of instrumentation and equipment
  • Inspects, tests, assembles, packages, and labels operating room instrumentation and trays in preparation for sterilization to ensure that instruments are ready and available for use.
  • Sterilizes instruments in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations using various techniques such as steam and/or chemical products (ie: Aldahol, etc.)
  • Demonstrates ability to understand and use automated instrument washer and sterilizers.
  • Demonstrates ability to understand use, function, interpretation, documentation, and record-keeping of chemical and biological indicators related to instrument sterilization and high-level disinfection.
  • Completes all documentation to ensure the availability of accurate and
  • up-to-date information in accordance with established standards.
  • Assists teammates with daily preparation for current and future surgery schedules (pulling cases and assembling supplies/instruments), as assigned.

Assist with various tasks throughout the departments, as needed and assigned by Charge Nurse.


  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • 2 Years of Sterile Processing Experience required
  • Certification in Sterile Processing preferred
  • Current BLS Certification or completion within 90 days of employment
