    The Texas Health Orthopedic Surgery Center - Heritage Trace is a single-specialty ambulatory surgery center located near Keller/Fort Worth Texas, which is a short commute from Dallas. Our center will provide care for patients starting in 2018. With four operating rooms we will provide Orthopedics, Spine, and Pain Management surgery services.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities

    Reporting to the CEO, the Purchasing/Supply Inventory Coordinator (Purchaser) is responsible for the facility inventory management plan to support patient care, and to achieve organizational goals as directed by the facility management. The Purchasing/Supply Inventory Coordinator performs duties according to scope of practice designated by the facility position description, role and responsibilities.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for purchasing supplies/equipment for surgery center
    • Works closely with manager’s to determine level of inventory
    • Maintains appropriate inventory levels as dictated by surgical volume
    • Receives, unpacks supplies, and stocks shelves in storage areas and operating rooms
    • Ships equipment, supplies, and outdated inventory as necessary
    • Packages and reorders pathology specimens and ships/handles/transports supplies when necessary
    • Matches invoices with packing/shipping slips and/or purchase orders for AP processing
    • Meets and negotiates prices with sales reps. and keeps accurate record of prices, quotes, and purchases
    • Ensures all purchased items are correctly billed for accurate invoice payments
    • Maintains equipment maintenance contracts
    • Updates computer inventory
    • Assists in the orientation of all new employees with reference to supplies and receiving area
    • Demonstrates the importance of continuing education to the performance of facility responsibilities and growth in profession.
    • Attends and participates in team meetings and in-service programs
    • Demonstrates competency in performing job task and operating equipment on an annual basis
    • Attends professional training seminars related to job development and education

    Qualifications

    Education, vocational training and experience

    • High school diploma required
    • Must have 1-2 years previous experience and/or knowledge of computers, medical terminology, medical/surgical supplies and equipment required
    • Intermediate skills on computer input and personal computer operations
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Detail oriented
    • Utilize time efficiently
    • Must be comfortable exposure to unpleasant odors, blood and body fluids; which may carry infection to infectious disease, and chemical and electrical hazards.   
    • Ability to lift or move boxes in excess of 50 pounds; which may require pushing, pulling and essentially utilizing a full range of body movement. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement, and feel fine sensation to discern temperature, texture, size and shape.
