Accountabilities / Responsibilities

We are currently recruiting for a Circulating RN in our Operating room.  This role is responsible for monitoring surgical procedures and assist by acting as an intermediary between the operating room staff and the rest of the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides safe patient care by verifying proper patient identification, following time- out protocols, and ensures that resources, and supplies are available to maintain a safe environment.  Assesses the patient’s condition before a surgical procedure and works with a physician to develop the care plan for the patient during the surgery. 
  • Prepares the patient for the procedure and handles the preparation for the operating room including educating the patient before the surgery takes place and participates in patient handoff during times of transition.
  • Assists in room turnover process and that the surgical room is sterile and safe for the patient. Ensures that the goals of the unit are met and maintained to provide for better room utilization.
  • Promotes/supports growth of others through precepting, mentoring, and orientation when appropriate. Serves as a positive, clinical role model to facilitate staff development, providing pertinent feedback to manager or designee.


  • Associates degree in nursing from an accredited required, a bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Arizona required
  • Minimum three years of nursing experience in acute OR setting, with at least 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the Orthopedic specialty area preferred
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), required, or must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
