Facility Description:  Channel Islands Surgicenter is a fast paced multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center with 3 ORs and 3 GI rooms.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

The Pre-op nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge.  Assesses, plans, evaluates and ensures the implementation of the patient’s care to achieve identified outcomes and delivers safe patient care according to facility policy and procedure.  


Key Responsibilities:

  • History & physical nursing assessment of patients
  • Completes review of medical record
  • Admits patients according to procedure
  • Maintains patient normothermia
  • Promotes physical comfort and provides emotional support and safety for patients
  • Reinforces and clarifies physician instructions and explanation of procedures to patients
  • Provides nursing care and appropriate monitoring according to policies and procedures
  • Communicates relevant information to physician, facility manager and appropriate staff
  • Verifies surgical/procedure site with patient and according to surgical schedule, patient and the history and physical
  • Obtains an verifies operative/procedure consent
  • Reviews charts for completeness and signatures of physicians
  • Initiates appropriate infection control mreasures



  • Current California nursing license
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • ASC experience preferred
