Accountabilities / Responsibilities

Surgical Care Affiliates is currently looking for an Insurance Verification Representative for our Carmel, IN location.

Within SCA, our revenue cycle teammates play a unique role. They connect with our patients, their insurers or bill payers and our physicians. In a rapidly growing market, the efficiency of this team directly affects our mission to care for our patients, serve our physicians, and improve healthcare in America.

The Insurance Verification Teammate is responsible for all appropriate verification of insurance and follow-up necessary to obtain full reimbursement and payment from patients and third party payers.  Contact patients that owe coinsurance/co-pays/and/or deductibles five days prior to surgery.  Make sure ALL surgeries that require pre-authorization are confirmed with Insurance companies and documented accordingly in the patient accounting system.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient demographic information and update when necessary
  • Identify patient primary, secondary and sometimes tertiary insurance coverage
  • Contact insurance companies and verify coverage and eligibility
  • Verify payer selected matches plan type based on information provided by the insurance company
  • Professionally communicate financial responsibility to patient and make arrangements for them to pay that amount
  • Identify the difference between precertification and referrals
  • Obtain authorization with applicable implants
  • Consistently achieve defined metrics

Qualifications

  • This positions requires a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Healthcare Management, Business Management, a related field
  • A minimum of one year of relative experience in a medical office or medical business office setting
  • Direct experience working with verifying insurance coverage preferred
  • Must have excellent phone and customer service skills
  • Must be very organized, be detail oriented, solve problems and multitask
  • Must be a team player
