Hawthorn Surgery Center is a busy, multi-specialty, 5 OR, outpatient surgery center, primarily performing orthopedics, ENT, urology, podiatry and pain management procedures. Our center’s new building opened 4 years ago in Vernon Hills, IL and we are growing at an excitingly rapid pace.  We are looking for a positive, energetic, experienced Operating Room Circulating Nurses with a proven track record of delivery excellent service to physicians, patients, and other teammates. We are seeking experienced Certified Nursing Assistants who are dependable, detail-oriented, skilled problem solvers, and who have a collaborative, friendly working style.  Qualified candidates must have a proven track record of delivering superior service to patients, physicians, and teammates.  Candidates must exemplify our organization’s values of Clinical Quality, Integrity, Service Excellence, Teamwork, Accountability and Continuous Improvement.  The Certified Nursing Assistant works under the direction of the Registered Nurse and is responsible for ensuring that the safety needs of the patient and the unit are met.  The candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively and thoroughly with other facility personnel, patients, and family members.  They must have the ability to work with minimal supervision, possess good, independent judgment, and set priorities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivers patient care daily in a safe, organized and timely manner while adhering to the facility policies and guidelines under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patients and their records, notifies appropriate licensed personnel any observed or communicated concerns from the patient(s).
  • Assist in the necessary tasks and components involved with patient assessment and care involved around surgery. Including but not limited to the following:
  • Bring patients from Waiting Room to Pre Operative Department
  • Help patients change into a patient gown
  • Take Vital Signs, Weight and height measurements during admission process
  • Accucheck and HCG Testing
  • Cleaning & Overall Tidiness/Organizing/Stocking of departments & patient care rooms multiple times a day.
  • Assist nursing staff with connecting patient’s to monitors upon arrival to Recovery (PACU)
  • Provide patient transport using wheelchair/gait belt, etc.
  • Assist with misc. patient care, i.e.: help patients getting dressed, bathroom, etc.
  • Assist with various ancillary tasks throughout the departments, as needed and assigned with proper training by Supervisor.
  • Demonstration of proper body mechanics and ability to lift and move 40 lbs.
  • General computer skills required.
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking and anticipation of needs pertaining to department is a must.


  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant is required
  • Current BLS Certification or completion within 90 days of employment
