SCA owns and/or provides management services to 205 ambulatory surgery centers, surgical hospitals, and hospital surgery departments, in partnership with approximately 2,800 physicians and in affiliation with 105 health systems. SCA's clinical systems, service line growth strategies, benchmarking processes, and efficiency programs create measurable advantage for surgical facilities – clinically, operationally, and financially. 

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

The HR Generalist is responsible for applying business knowledge and human resources expertise as well as assisting in providing a wide range of HR support and advice to SCA’s employee population. Responsible for offering guidance on company policies, compliance issues, performance management, and HR best practices while facilitating a positive relationship. The HR Generalist will aid in implementing programs to improve employee experience including employee relations and performance management issues


  • Distributes and monitors employee performance evaluations and ensures they are done in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with Managers on ensuring ADA requirements are met.
  • Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.
  • Manages and tracks all employee disciplinary action.
  • Coaches, counsels and guides managers before executing employee disciplinary actions.
  • Monitors all EEO compliance and Affirmative Action programs including drafting annual AAP, reviewing all practices related to hiring, training, transfers or promotions.
  • Maintains employee records and personnel files.
  • Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.
  • Maintains and processes all Unemployment Notices and potential charges in a timely, efficient manner. Attends unemployment hearings when necessary.
  • Updates, monitors and maintains eligible salary adjustments/increases based on three- and six-month and one-year evaluations.


  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in Human Resources
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in HR
  • Ability to travel nationally up to 30% required
  • PHR or SPHR ; PHR-CA or SPHR-CA preferred
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems preferred
  • Expertise in HR policies and procedures including best practices
  • Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion
  • Experience with interpreting and applying state, federal and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be highly organized and able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and work in a complex, cross-functional team environment
