SCA owns and/or provides management services to 205 ambulatory surgery centers, surgical hospitals, and hospital surgery departments, in partnership with approximately 2,800 physicians and in affiliation with 105 health systems. SCA's clinical systems, service line growth strategies, benchmarking processes, and efficiency programs create measurable advantage for surgical facilities – clinically, operationally, and financially.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Finance with a dotted line to the Regional Vice President of Operations (RVP), the Manager of Financial Operations will have full financial responsibility for a critical geography of Surgical Care Affiliates (SCA).


The successful candidate is responsible for all financial aspects of a region including, but not limited to:

  • Support consistently growing EBITDA through leading profitable top-line growth initiatives, developing new partnerships, and effectively managing expenses, and, supporting development process (M&A)
  • Acting as a strategic business partner with the RVP of Operations to transform the regions position in regional markets to achieve and sustain competitive advantage,
  • Speaking with authority on behalf of the RVP of Operations and representing him/her at health system, partnership or board meetings,
  • Creating, implementing and pulling through opportunities which drive financial growth and operational performance


  • Assess and evaluate financial performance of the Region with regard to long and short term financial goals, budgets and forecasts
  • Perform performance variance analyses
  • Partner with accounting team to ensure accuracy of monthly financial statements
  • Coach facility leaders on financial matters and areas of improvement
  • Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models
  • Prepare and present monthly financial budgets, monthly profit and loss statement by region & facility
  • Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide insight and recommendations on trajectory of business
  • Ensure application of appropriate internal controls, SOX compliance and financial procedures
  • Oversee the month-end close process and review month-end close actives including general ledger accounts, balance sheet account and overhead cost allocations
  • Oversee cash, investments and asset management for the Region
  • Managing all strategic and day-to-day financial aspects of the Region.
  • Working closely with the SCA Development Team to pull through of acquisitions and joint venture partnerships on a regional basis.
  • Identify areas of opportunity to standardize, simplify, and streamline to drive our value of Continuous Improvement


  • An undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance is required.  Additional education such as Masters-level studies in business and/or CPA desirable, but not required.
  • A minimum of three years accounting, finance operations, or financial planning & analysis.
  • Ability to digest financial information, render judgment, create context, pattern recognition
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage conflicting priorities
  • Collaborate within other finance teams, across other departments, and with Operations
