Facility Description:  Perimeter Surgery Center of Atlanta is a growing, multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center located in Atlanta. Specialties include Neuro-spine, Orthopedics, General, Plastics, Oculo-plastic, ENT, GI, and Pain.  

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

The Preoperative/PACU Registered Nurse provides therapeutic, effective patient/family centered care across the age span according to physician order, in compliance with the philosophy of the surgery center, standards of practice and regulations of governing agencies. 




  • Review current surgery schedule each morning and prepare room supplies and equipment.
  • Admits patient according to the facilities policy and procedure.
  • Verifies operative site with patient per facility policy and procedure.
  • Completes preoperative teaching to patient and family and initiates postoperative teaching to be completed during the recovery phase.
  • Maintains and demonstrates safe medication practices.
  • Assures the patient and/or family understands procedure to be performed.
  • Completes preoperative orders and prep as ordered by physician.
  • Communicates relevant patient information to physician, director of nursing, and appropriate personnel.
  • Sets priorities to facilitate the flow of patients efficiently.
  • Participates in competency testing and specialty projects. 



  • Admits patient according to policy and procedure continually assessing the patient and documenting the required information.  Able provide safe and competent care for patients in Phase I & II.
  • Provides safe and effective care for patients receiving general, local, MAC, and moderate sedation. 
  • Administers and documents medications as ordered by physician.
  • Provides nursing care and appropriate monitoring of the patient according to policy and procedure.
  • Communicates relevant information to physician, facility administrator and appropriate staff.
  • Completes postoperative teaching and instructs patient and/or family of discharge plan as ordered per physician. 
  • Provides competent emergency care according to physician and policy and procedure.
  • Discharges patient with order of anesthesiologist and/or attending physician in accordance with policy and procedure and approved discharged criteria.
  • Sets priorities to facilitate the flow of patients efficiently.
  • Participates in competency testing and specialty projects.




  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Currently licensed to practice in the state of Georgia.
  • Certification in CPR.
  • ACLS and PALS certification preferred. Must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Two years related nursing experience in critical care, operating room, PACU, ambulatory care or endoscopy preferred.
  • Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
