Reporting to the Senior Director of Financial Operations, this role is responsible for providing analytical support to the Finance and Operations teams within the Optum Specialty Practice (“OSP”) group. This role will be responsible for maintaining and creating standard monthly operational and financial reports, analyses, and physician compensation calculations for various physician practice models, along with ad hoc requests and special projects, as needed. The Finance Associate position has exposure to multiple departments across SCA Health and can be a launching pad to a career within Operations, Finance, or Corporate Development.

OSP partners with specialty physician groups to support their migration into value-based healthcare as part of the OptumCare team. OSP partners to provide practice management and clinical performance support, referral and payer alignment, data analytics, and strategic capital while the practices themselves provide physician leadership, market knowledge and clinical excellence to create market-leading specialty care delivery systems. OSP is responsible for delivering high-value specialty care networks that overlay and integrate with SCA, OptumCare Care Delivery Organizations (CDOs), and other OptumCare partner

Responsibility Description:

Partner with Operations, Accounting, and Finance leaders to support OSP’s specialty physician alignment strategy

• Analyze monthly results and provide analysis on key variances to budget, forecast, and prior periods
• Perform analytics to support the Financial Operations team, and identify business implications of analysis
• Generate standard monthly operating/financial reports
• Complete annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting
• Build presentations for monthly operating reviews and Board meetings
• Build financial models for transactions, business impact analysis, and capital planning
• Complete physician compensation calculations and maintain associated systems and workflows
• Work with IT team to build out data warehouse and create on-demand reporting tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc)
• Complete multiple ad hoc analyses and special projects

• Qualified candidate will be highly analytical, a critical thinker, intellectually curious, with decision making skills and desire to work in a startup-like environment
• Proficient to expert level skillset using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, PowerBI, Access, and Sharepoint).
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, proactively managing multiple stakeholders
• Strong organizational skills - ability to use discretion, prioritize, maintain attention to detail and recognize time constraints.
• At least 3 years of experience working in healthcare finance, analytics, or operations
• Bachelor’s or degree in business field required – Finance/Economics/Accounting/Health Care Administration
• Master’s degree or certification (CFA, CPA, CMA) is desirable but not required
• Healthcare and large multi-site medical group experience is preferred
• Experience with physician compensation is highly desirable
• Experience with medical group budgeting and forecasting is highly desirable
• Must be able to travel to locations nationally (Travel 10%)
