  • Overview

    POSITION OBJECTIVE:  The Central Scheduling Manager is responsible for building the process and procedures by which patients are scheduled and managing the scheduling team in their implementation.  This position is responsible for communicating equipment and staffing needs to the Manager.  The Central Scheduling Manager is responsible for non-approved procedures or procedures not indicated on a physician’s delineation of privileges. The Central Scheduling Manager will manage the medical records and chart preparation as advised by the Director of Operations.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities


    • Responsible for overseeing and supervising the Scheduling Team.
    • Responsible for scheduling all sleep services.
    • Responsible for ensuring established scheduling procedures are conducted during shift.
    • Support the Manager with overseeing operation of the Scheduling Department.
    • Responsible for obtaining and adding patient demographics and insurance information into the Electronic Medical record (EMR) system.
    • Responsible for contacting payers to verify patient benefits and obtain necessary authorization.
    • Coordinates efforts with the Manager to ensure availability of needed equipment, requested staff, and/or ancillary services.
    • Prepares and distributes the daily schedule to the necessary staff.
    • Responsible for capturing complete and accurate clinical, demographic and insurance information on patients scheduled for sleep services.
    • Responsible for communicating any potential scheduling conflicts to the Operations Manager.
    • Promptly communicates any patient problems to the Manager
    • Maintains positive communications with the staff members and their office personnel.
    • Responsible for tracking cancellations.
    • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining and releasing block time.




    • High school graduate or equivalent


    • Minimum five (5) years scheduling experience in a sleep service, medical facility, ambulatory surgery facility,
      acute-care hospital, or doctor’s office.
    • Minimum three (3) years experience supervising a team.
    • Experience overseeing multiple sites or teams preferred.
    • Experience building scheduling processes and procedures.

    • Subject to varying situations
    • Subject to a high volume of calls OSHA, Category II –Does not involve routine exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks (indirect patient care jobs; i.e. Unit Clerk, Pastoral Care, etc.). *


    Physical Demands: (e.g. works on a computer, use telephone, lifts up to 50 lbs.)


    • May be required to lift and carry items up to 10 pounds
    • Some bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping and crouching
