Blue Ridge Surgery Center is a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center. The center is a partnership between Surgical Care Affiliates and physicians. As Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs), our primary product is operating room time. The Physician Office Liaison (POL) manages this constrained resource and is expected to proactively fill the schedule with profitable procedures. The POL is the key point of contact with our physician offices and their relationships help ensure the success of our centers.  A POL must be self-directed, able to work independently and exhibit team orientated behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

• Obtain and accurately enter complete patient demographic, insurance authorization and workup from physician offices at time of scheduling.
• Coordinates schedule with physician time, staffing, procedure complexity, patient age/needs and equipment availability in mind.
• Maximize efficiency within the surgery schedule by organizing cases and monitoring block utilization.
  Communicate and partner with the back-up Schedulers in a manner that is consistent for the centers to maintain its high level of service.
• Works closely with Operating Room Manager to avoid equipment or supply conflicts.
• Ensures all necessary paper work for any patient” add- on” is received by the appropriate staff.
• Communicates changes to schedule to appropriate staff.
• Accurately uses procedure codes to ensure proper billing.
• Perform cost analysis to ensure reimbursement and submits cost reimbursement analysis reports.
• Develop an ongoing communication plan with physician office schedulers to assess satisfaction and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Review block utilization weekly and monthly to release block times not being used and actively backfill.
• Work with Purchaser to identifying high dollar implants to ensure reimbursement.
• Work with Administrator and Business Office Manager to determine reimbursement when new procedures are scheduled.
• Facilitate effective communication with patient, payors, physicians, and other teammates.

• Bachelor’s Degree; Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school
• 3-5 years’ experience in a medical office, hospital or outpatient surgery center
• Proficient Computer experience, Excel, Word, Medical Billing Software and Applications
• Working knowledge of Medical Terminology, CPT and ICD 10 coding.
