Reporting to the Director of Payroll and HR Measurement, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing multi-state and multi-facility payroll in accordance with SCA payroll policies and procedures. This includes overseeing all administrative activities related to payroll, employment tax, wage garnishments, and benefits deductions. An ideal candidate will be able to handle sensitive and confidential information while demonstrating strong judgment and integrity aligned with SCA values.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities


  • Responsible for accurate and timely processing of multiple state and facility bi-weekly payroll
  • Works directly with facility representatives to troubleshoot and resolve processing issues
  • Audits imported Kronos data for accuracy and adjusts as needed
  • In charge of day-to-day payroll maintenance to include timely processing of payroll entries, garnishments, direct deposit information and recording of retroactive payments
  • Process manual payroll checks for outstanding payroll checks, lost/stolen checks, late time sheets
  • Performs analysis of completed payroll and troubleshoots data inconsistencies; identifies trends and potential issues and recommends solutions
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and irregularities
  • Responds to HRConnect cases to assists facilities with payroll questions
  • Responsible for balancing payroll total for assigned facilities
  • Run and provide standard payroll reports to various teammates across the organization
  • Provides support and training to customers and teammates on payroll systems and procedures
  • Prepares and imports large volume benefits data into Ceridian (monthly deductions, retro deductions, 401K)
  • Records Stock Option and RSU transactions monthly
  • Complete per pay period PTO audit
  • Management of Unclaimed Property
  • Assists in training and development of payroll specialist
  • Identify topics and develop knowledge articles
  • Ensures adherence to organizations payroll related policies, procedures and regulations
  • Comply with local, state, and federal payroll regulations


  • High School Diploma required Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3+ years processing large volume multi-state payrolls required OR 3 years of experience in an excel based analytical role 
  • Kronos experience required
  • Experience with Ceridian and  Ultipro strongly preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality required
